Wavegarden (Extended) from wavegarden on Vimeo.

“Hey lets go surf the lake today.” Yeah we could say that soon. Engineer Josema Odriozala and sports economist Karin Frisch got bored with building skate parks for whining skater brats. So they built wavegarden.
Ok so we’ve all been to the mushy pee-filled wave parks in the US but this is different. These guys found a way to transform existing bodies of water into functioning barreling waves. And it’s environmentally friendly.
The worlds newest artificial wave has been successfully tested and surfed by a few pro surfers in Basque country including Bobby Martinez who twittered
“found a goofy footers dream yesterday!!!!!! let me put it like this…the window never closes!!!!!!!! Hahaha”
Right now the wave maxes out at out at about 4 feet with an almond shape barrel.
Without getting into the physics of the design, The shore has to have a particular contour while a specifically designed profile pushes the water towards the shore.
All this means is that fully landlocked lake rednecks are going to be on the professional tour someday..

Lately (since I graduated in May), I’ve been inclined to avoid writing at all costs and I’ve been trying to figure out why, I think mostly because my dream job is an impossibility, (Maybe its not, maybe I just lack the confidence, or skill, or confidence). Who knows? And partly, I’m angry at my school, angry at my professors, angry at the Journalism department, angry at myself (mostly disappointed), and angry that journalism doesn’t pay. I was told in class, “hey guys you’re probably gonna hafta work for free at first, you know, to get an in.” Working for free won’t pay my 80,000 plus debt to that institution. Oh well, I should have chosen another field of study. So I want to rant and rave about how people shouldn’t study journalism, if he/she is a writer, he should read a “Journalism for Dummies” handbook (if it exists) and just do it. Forget about a four-year degree, it’s a dying field to some degree. I don’t even know if I want to write. But I feel guilt for not writing, not blogging, and being lazy. So now that have drank enough mate´ to be bugging out, I decided to jot or type a few words on a word document, for myself.

swine flu

I've discovered the origin of this super serious flu. Yes it's killed many people in Mexico, yes crowded  Mexico city is completely shut down for five days like a ghost town, yes there are around 300 schools shut down in the US, yes there are 100 confirmed cases of the virus And YES there has been one death in Texas, a Mexican baby visiting. But it does not come from pigs (I just read it online http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090501/ap_on_he_me/med_swine_flu_name_13
So don't be worried (like I was) to get pork in your burrito at chipotle, cause this virus is only similar to viruses scientists have seen in pigs. The flu is called  2009 H1N1. Sorry pork industry.

NOW 2009!

I was stuffing myself, getting ranch bleu cheese and buffalo sauce all over my fingers, face, lips and socks (sometimes I use them as a napkin). I talked to a few of my elders (college grads/friends). Ok truthfully, they're the same age as me, they're just not fifth years like me.  I'm special, in the slow sorta way. Tim and Chris. They were telling me how different this "real" world is. MAn I hate that term "real." Cause I don't think College is fake. But whatever. One has a great job. The other one just got a job, but its taken him a while.  Both say they miss college. These guys are not 30. I think they might be younger than me.  Am I going to miss college immediately after? Cause I'm kinda tired of being the creepy fifth year who should've finished already.
This semester I'm taking mostly upper division, important journalism classes. They're entertaining, and useful. I got the internship I've been wanting for 3 semesters. And now all I can do is wonder what's next after May 16th? I want to say South America, Europe or back to Australia to marry someone. I doubt it. Marriage is too scary. I just want citizenship.  But no, I'm going to the country of slave-work and loan-paying. But where? San Diego? Delaware? Omaha? I think not. Aaron wants me to go to Orange County. Who knows.  I guess all I can do is plan for the future but Tim told me once that the only thing we have is NOW. I've heard it before. But for some reason it rang true when he said it.  So I know. All I have is right now. Right now to make the best out of life. Right now to seize the moment. Right now to .... go sit on the couch and wish I hadn't eaten 18 wings.

The fabulous life of...Andrew Hudson?!

I just finished watching "The fabulous life of..." show.  The episode was about celebrities' business ventures.  Once they have the famous face, they can do whatever they want.  For example, the most ridiculous one,  Jay-Z now has his own color.  Yes, Jay-Z blue. If someone wants to purchase a Jay-Z blue bike, he gets a percentage. This color could be put on any product. I'm not sure what would be the andrewgangsta color, but it would be titled andrewgangsta dats fo sho. I've never decided on a favorite color, honestly. Ask me next time you see me. I won't know.
Mariah Carey has her own wine. Pharell has his own high end clothing line. Jackie Chan has restaurants all over the world (all his earnings go to charities which is cool). Jessica Simpson gets an absurd amount of money from Proactive.  She has dump trucks of cash in her 20 car garage. k maybe not. She also has clothing lines but they were barely worth mentioning because she only gets a few million for those.  I don't even want to talk about P. Diddy's top selling cologne.
During a commercial break I got up to make a pretzel, two pretzel's with some honey mustard. It's what I used to eat everyday after high school, man I miss.. sike i don't miss high school.  As I got up I felt slightly depressed. It seems so easy for these people to make money. I'm going to school, they probably didn't, I'm going to be in deep debt for school, and they can make millions through branding.  When I finish school, If I get a job, in journalism, it won't pay well.
I asked my advisor about law school, because I am concerned about money.  He (Dean Nelson) said every lawyer he's ever talked to was miserable.  He said, I should worry about quality of life, family, enjoying what I do. Money doesn't equal happiness.
But I'd probably be happy, at least for a little while, if I had my own color. andrewgangsta _____     red ? yellow? sky blue? Fuschia?  Probably Fushcia.
